Case study

Nucleus CRM

A multi-tenant CRM platform for small and mid-sized businesses, built and operated by SJ3 Labs.

What it is

Nucleus is a customer relationship management platform built for small and mid-sized businesses — the ones large enough to be losing track of work in spreadsheets and inboxes, but not large enough to want an enterprise rollout. One deployment serves many separate companies, and each company's data stays strictly its own.

It is built for businesses that sell and then have to deliver:

How it is put together

The usual trap in software like this is that every client wants something slightly different, so the product slowly becomes a dozen half-maintained versions of itself. Nucleus is arranged in three layers specifically to avoid that.

A locked core

Every workspace gets the same foundation: tenants, users, roles, permissions, and the contact and company records everything else hangs off. It is the same code for every client, so a fix or an improvement reaches all of them at once. Nobody gets a private fork that slowly rots.

Feature packs, switched on per client

Everything above the core is a pack that a workspace turns on or off. A field-service company that wants scheduling and invoicing does not have to look at a marketing campaign screen. Six packs are built — Sales, Marketing, Support, Quotes & Invoicing, Projects, and Scheduling — and the navigation and dashboard grow or shrink to match, with no deploy.

Custom integrations on top

Where a client needs something genuinely specific — a connection to the system they already run their business on — that attaches as its own layer rather than being welded into the core. The bespoke work stays contained, and the shared platform stays shared.

Also built into the platform

  • Role-based access control
  • User management and invite lifecycle
  • CSV import with duplicate detection
  • Per-tenant data isolation

Inside the product

Captured from the live demo workspace. Every screen below is reachable in the demo itself.

Nucleus CRM dashboard showing pipeline value, contact counts, activity feed and active feature packs.
Workspace dashboard. 37 contacts, 19 companies and $166,500 of open pipeline across six active packs, with a pipeline-by-stage chart and a live activity feed.
Nucleus contacts list with an inline add-contact form.
Contacts. Every person in the workspace with their company, owner and date added. New contacts are created inline, without leaving the list.
A Nucleus contact record with details, activity history, and company, support and appointment side panels.
Contact record. Editable details alongside activity history, the linked company, resolved support tickets and the next scheduled appointment — one person, in one place.
Nucleus sales pipeline board with deals grouped by stage.
Sales pipeline. Deals grouped into Discovery, Proposal, Contract Sent and Won, each card carrying its value, status and owner — $166,500 open, weighted to $140,550.
The Quotes and Invoicing pack showing invoices with status badges.
Quotes and invoicing. Nine invoices carrying their own state — draft, sent, overdue, void, partial and paid — with $27,500 outstanding tracked without a spreadsheet.
The Nucleus scheduling pack in week view, appointments across a seven-day grid.
Scheduling. Appointments laid out across the working week, including a cancelled booking struck through rather than quietly deleted.
Nucleus settings showing all six feature packs with enable and disable controls.
Feature packs, on or off per workspace. All six packs switch on or off per workspace: the app grows or shrinks instantly, with no deploy.

Try it yourself.

The demo is a sandbox workspace loaded with a fictional creative agency. A sandbox workspace that resets to its sample data every night, so you are free to click around and break things.
